Tonkotsu Kazan at Bukit Panjang Plaza brings authentic Japanese ramen heritage to Singapore, representing the acclaimed Osaka-based chain that has been perfecting their craft since 1966. Introduced to Singapore in 2012 and now operating 6 locations islandwide, Tonkotsu Kazan has earned recognition for their premium broths and innovative presentation that combines traditional Japanese techniques with theatrical dining elements. Located at #01-64/65, this restaurant serves the western region's growing appetite for authentic Japanese cuisine with meticulous attention to quality and presentation.
The restaurant's signature Volcano Ramen represents their culinary mastery, featuring thick handmade noodles and fresh vegetables served in a heated stone bowl at 350 degrees Celsius, completed tableside by pouring the hot broth over ingredients while steam erupts through a conical lid like a volcanic explosion. Available in multiple flavor profiles including Shoyu, Karamiso, Curry, and Kaisen-Shio soup bases, each bowl showcases broths that are simmered for at least 10 hours to achieve rich, concentrated flavors. Beyond ramen, the menu includes Hot Stone Fried Rice, Pork and Kimchi Rice, and unique desserts like Ice Kazan Volcano Dessert that extend their theatrical presentation style to sweet treats.
Operating Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and weekends from 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM, Tonkotsu Kazan can be reached at 6767 2675 for reservations and inquiries. The restaurant offers both dine-in experiences that showcase their signature presentation style and convenient online ordering for delivery and pickup through their dedicated platform. With springy handmade noodles, specially marinated chashu, and the entertaining volcano presentation, Tonkotsu Kazan provides an authentic yet uniquely theatrical Japanese dining experience that has captivated Singapore's ramen enthusiasts.
I didn't know the hot stone bowl has noodles in it, ordered regular and it also comes with rice(almost couldn't finish it).
price wise for hot stone is rather pricey as there isn't much meat inside just lots of veggies. the soup tasted average only... free flow hardboil eggs too. not the best tasting ramen but edible.

It’s my first time visiting Bukit Panjang Plaza and was very happy to see a tiny Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen outlet here but was disappointed with the food here.
The soup base for my 2 Shoyu ramen were very diluted, taste was abit too light for my liking, different from what i usually had at the Funan outlet.
Gyoza looks the same when served but was cold abit too fast, probably not cooked long enough because the fillings inside tasted mushy.
Water was told that it was no longer served, since 2 months ago, so i was quite disappointed.
The brightest light in the shop is Ms Suphattra, she was very attentive and friendly! Loved her cheery smiles to customers and also to the kitchen staffs she was working with.
i will still come back to my favourite Japanese ramen but will go for the better tasting one in Funan and wished that Funan’s staff were as cheerful as Ms Suphattra.
Thank you!
😊
*yes i still finished all our food. 🤭

It was so nice to enjoy the volcano ramen with the smoke coming out. Ramen taste was so-so. Service was not so attentive , atmosphere was abit too cramped as shop space is not big. Price was average pricing expected for a neighbourhood shopping mall. After all it was acceptable , but there are better ramen shop taste better with pricing near.

The volcano ramen has been around for ages. I've been to the branch in Novena. Both branches are small with limited seats, so it's not always easy to get a table. However, we were able to secure a table this time.
My curry volcano ramen is nice, the cha shu slices were thick and tender, very good. It's large enough for two as I wasn't able to finish it. It also comes with rice (which they forgot to give me but it's ok, I was full), you are encouraged to add your leftover broth to it for round two. The fried chicken and don were tasty too, as was the refreshing salad.

Tried Volcano Ramen at Bukit Panjang Plaza, and it was a solid experience! I had the beef bowl, which tasted quite similar to Yoshinoya’s—flavorful and satisfying. My wife had ramen (forgot which one!), but she said it was good. A nice bonus: they offer free eggs! Overall, a decent place for a quick and tasty meal.

Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night and had a great time! Portions were generous, there were fun add-ons & condiments, and the food had lots of personality!
🍳 Free Flow Hard-Boiled Eggs
You can peel your own eggs and eat them with your ramen. I even asked the staff for some mayo and made myself a DIY egg salad with chilli flakes and sesame powder to my liking hehe.
🍺 Sapporo Bottle Beer – $2.90
C’mon… $2.90 for a cold, golden Sapporo? Can’t go wrong. Perfect pairing for ramen or karaage.
Apple Chu-Hai – $7.00
Light, bubbly, and refreshing with a soft apple flavour. Not too boozy, just the right kind of casual drink for a laid-back dinner.
🍜 Volcano Kazan Style Beef Sukiyaki Ramen – $18.80
The star of the show. This Kazan-style ramen comes with a volcano-shaped lid that traps heat and smokes—makes for quite the visual moment. The raw beef slices cook under the lid, and once it’s lifted, you’re left with a super rich, soy-based beefy broth.
The broth was sweet too, thanks to the generous amount of cabbage and beansprouts. Bonus: they give you a bowl of rice to enjoy with the broth afterward! You can also request raw garlic cloves to mash in, and sesame powder to tweak the flavours. So satisfying and rich!
🌶️ LIMITED TIME: Curry Tantan Noodle – $13.80
A thick, creamy, sesame-based broth with a strong curry aroma. Topped with spicy minced meat—it’s bold and nutty. Personally, this was a bit too heavy for me; it leaned more gravy than soup. Think: spicy Japanese tantanmen with a rich curry aroma. Definitely flavour-packed, just not for when you want something light.
🍗 Chicken Nanban – $7.80
These are crispy, tender fried chicken bites with a chunky onion-forward nanban sauce—not your usual creamy style. Great for sharing, but just a heads-up: very oniony.
🥟 Yaki Gyoza (6pcs) – $6.30
Nice chewy skin and a solid gyoza option for the table. Only wish the pan-fried side was crispier, but it still hit the spot.

Free hard boiled eggs. Sign up for member to gain benefit of 1 free drink (I CHOSE ORANGE JUICE) and Birthday -$5 discount! As it was my birthday Month, I paid only $11+ for this table of food.
Small but fit shop for a ramen gathering. I ordered the Karamiso ramen for $13.80+. After GST and Svc charge it became $16+.
The best is the chashu which gave me a wow! factor. Will come back if craving ramen again.

small store. if don't mind sharing table. kazan ramen pork sukiyaki set meal got noodles inside the soup base and 1 bowl of rice. lots of vegetable wrapped inside the pork. no spoon only got small soup spoon. chicken nanban set. chicken portion slightly bigger than some karage. stomach too full after eating. ⊙.☉

Small little corner joint at BPP.
Spicy ramen, actually not very spicy. Broth alittle on the salty side, doesn't have that umami rich flavor. Almost tasted like a normal boiled soup. Comes with complimentary hard boiled eggs. Overall, still a good eat.

Come here a few times per year. Excellent food! Also thrilled that Japanese Kobe bakery is opening right opposite this place. Will complete my occasional Japanese fix. 🤣

My Curry Volcano Ramen was delicious. The cha shu slices were thick and tender, and very good. It's large enough for two, as I wasn't able to finish it. It also comes with rice, which they forgot to give me (but it was fine, as I was already full). Diners are encouraged to add their leftover broth to it for a second round. The fried chicken and donburi were tasty too, as was the refreshing salad.

Instructions
KAZAN RAMEN
How to cook delicious Kazan Ramen
STEP 1
Pour soup into the super hot stone bowl.
STEP 2
Put the lid on the stone bowl and continue cooking.
STEP 3
When you see steam coming out from the lid (we call it FUNKA volcano eruption), wait for one more minute.
STEP 4
Take the lid off the stone bowl and stir vegetables and noodles well. Your delicious KAZAN RAMEN is now ready to serve! YAY!
STEP 5
You can enjoy the KAZAN RAMEN twice by adding rice into the left-over soup (Soupy Rice)!
Warnings
WARNING
Please be careful while cooking as the stone bowl and steam charging out can get extremely hot and burn you.
