Tried their new house signature matcha bun and was not impressed by it, other than being bigger than a normal bun but also more expensive.

Gokoku Japanese Bakery at Bukit Panjang Plaza brings over 60 years of authentic Japanese bread-making mastery to Singapore's northwestern community, representing the traditional 'WA' (和) bakery heritage that originates from Kobe, Japan, where the company has been perfecting bread production since 1961. Located within this major shopping destination, Gokoku serves residents from Bukit Panjang, Teck Whye, Choa Chu Kang, and surrounding areas with hearty, freshly baked Japanese breads and pastries that utilize quality ingredients imported from Japan and traditional techniques that distinguish authentic Japanese bakery products from conventional Western-style bread offerings. The name 'Gokoku Shichifuku' meaning '5 grains 7 fortunes' reflects the bakery's philosophy of using nourishing, mineral-rich ingredients that promote customers' happiness, health, and good fortune while celebrating the traditional craftsmanship and natural flavors that define authentic Japanese baking culture.
The bakery's signature offerings include the acclaimed Meiho Toast made with overnight-aged dough that develops into pleasantly chewy texture, available in half loaf (S.40) and full loaf (S.80) portions that showcase the superior quality of Japanese flour and fermentation techniques. Popular items include the bestselling Mochi Mochi Cheese (S.70) and Mochi Mochi Cranberry (S.20) breads that combine traditional Japanese mochi texture with contemporary flavors, along with elegant Coronets filled with custard whipped cream and chocolate versions featuring couverture chocolate custard cream. Additional specialties include the Apple and Caramel Kouign-amann featuring chunky Fuji apple slices, sliced almonds, and caramel glaze that exemplify the bakery's commitment to using premium ingredients and traditional Japanese baking methods to create products that honor both Japanese heritage and modern taste preferences.
As one of four Gokoku locations across Singapore, the Bukit Panjang Plaza outlet benefits from the mall's excellent accessibility and positions authentic Japanese bakery culture within easy reach of northwestern Singapore residents who appreciate artisanal bread quality and traditional craftsmanship. The bakery's commitment to daily fresh baking using Japanese flour, brown rice, sakadane (fermented dough), and other traditional ingredients ensures that customers experience the authentic textures, flavors, and nutritional benefits that distinguish Japanese bread-making from mass-produced alternatives. Whether you're discovering Japanese bakery culture for the first time, seeking premium bread options for family meals, looking for unique gifts that represent authentic Japanese craftsmanship, or simply craving the distinctive flavors and textures that make Japanese breads internationally renowned, Gokoku Japanese Bakery provides the authenticity, quality, and cultural experience that connects Singapore's diverse community with the time-honored traditions of Japanese artisanal baking while offering the convenience and accessibility that modern consumers require in their daily bread and pastry purchases.

Overrated bread. There isn't much taste, and it's not worth its price tag at all. Mentaiko baguettes have little mentaiko, and cheese buns have little cheese. Spend your money on the bakery shop right at the other end of that level. You will be more satisfied.

My favourite bakery finally opened at Bukit Panjang Plaza! I love the malt kurumi bun and yuzu walnut bun. It was very satisfying, and I was surprised to get hot bread fresh out of the oven – it was so yummy! Will be back for more. The cheesecake had a $1 discount promotion since I had bought buns, and it was so good! Recommend it!

A popular bakery is finally in the CCK BP area. They have a wide selection of more premium bread, which costs a hefty penny. Most pieces are more than $2.50 each.

My favourite bakery is now in Panjang! 🫶🏼 It's very clean and spacious, with a similar variety of bread to the other outlets. I tried the Kaya coconut bun (I think it’s released to celebrate National Day). It was very soft and had lots of Kaya inside! I know it looks like there’s just a bit of Kaya, but trust me that there’s more below. I will happily pay for the quality of bread here. I'm looking forward to more variety of bread as they stabilise!
