Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway at Bukit Panjang Plaza brings the culinary artistry of ex-MasterChef Singapore finalist Aaron Wong to the northwest community, specializing in handmade mee hoon kway and ban mian prepared using innovative Japanese ramen techniques. Located within Hawkers' Street on the third floor, this popular stall elevates traditional Singaporean noodle soups through prepared-to-order freshness and unique cooking methods that create distinctive smoky flavors reminiscent of wok hei. Each bowl showcases authentic craftsmanship with noodles freshly rolled from dough sheets and cut to order, ensuring optimal texture and taste that sets Jiak Song apart from conventional mee hoon kway establishments.
The signature menu features Mee Hoon Kway with Minced Pork and Pork Slices (.50), enhanced versions with added pork balls (.00), and the popular All-In-One Combo (.50) that includes handmade mee hoon kway, minced pork, pork slices, pork ball, shrimp ball, and ikan bilis for a comprehensive tasting experience. The standout feature is the expertly crafted soup that incorporates Japanese ramen techniques, creating a complex broth with subtle smokiness that elevates familiar flavors. Customer favorites include the show-stealing prawn balls, praised for their soft texture and generous real prawn chunks that demonstrate the stall's commitment to quality ingredients.
Operating daily from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM at #03-08 Hawkers' Street, Bukit Panjang Plaza, Jiak Song provides convenient access to exceptional handmade noodles with delivery available through FoodPanda and GrabFood. The stall's 4.5/5 rating reflects customer appreciation for the unique combination of traditional noodle-making techniques with innovative flavor development that creates memorable dining experiences. With multiple outlets across Singapore and recognition for culinary innovation, Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway continues to demonstrate how traditional Singaporean comfort food can be elevated through expert technique and creative culinary vision.
I ordered fried pork ribs via Foodpanda and was shocked to see how little the portions were. 7 tiny pieces for $9!! It's outrageous for the price and portions. Please don't ever get the ribs. Mee Hoon Kuey is decent, got wok hei.

Came down to get takeaway for tom yum ban mian and bak chor mee on sunday 7.54pm. Ordered ban mian from a large chinese lady serving the stall first as there was no queue. I came back to collect and was given a "stink face/ black face" by the large chinese lady when i shared that i wanted takeaway, with a reply in mandarin "if you had said takeaway earlier, i would have packed it for takeaway." I went "errr...could you help me pack it for takeaway please?" Continued stink face. In my busyness to get back to my pregnant wife, i give the benefit of the doubt to the staff that I may have missed out saying it was for takeaway and didnt challenge her back.
Brought home and shared with wife - soup was extremely salty - dont get me wrong. I have been buying jiak song mee hoon kueh for at least 3 years since the original stall at choa chu kang opened.
I dont mind the bad attitude but salty food AND Bad attitude - go swallow your own soup, suck on your own ban mian.
I can cook better tom yum than you with just Maggie mee.

Staff are cold and seem uninterested to work.
My mhk pork slices came pink, staff brushed off my concerns after I told them about it.
I think it's reasonable for most people to be concerned about being served pink pork.
Used to love the brand, what a shame.

This may be the best stall in the world but it has really BAD attitude. All I did was ask if I missed my order. The cook did not have to show me his sour face and roll his eyes at me. I will not patronise this stall again. Life is too short!

I have yet try the fish soup I have bought today. The mee hoon kuay portion is too small as compared to other foodcourt in the shopping mall. I have ordered a fish soup today, I forget to mention that I would like to add milk in the soup, the auntie did not bother to check with the customer if we want milk or not as many other stall will ask if we want the milk in case the customer forget to request. When I asked if they have the milk version, she said you should say when we ordered. Yes, I agreed, but human can be forgetful. No harm to for the staff help to ask if we want the milk?

Not worth the long wait… the kueh was hard, not soft, unevely cooked.. Broth tasted very weird, not fragrant at all. Pork slices was too soft, not tender. Prawn ball had no taste at all, no bite to it🤦♀️Pork ball has that stinky pork taste..felt like vomiting.Won’t eat here again

Soup base is fantastic. Comforting food

Tried the soup and dry mee hoon kueh, both have the wok hey fragrance which I love! The texture of the noodles is really good too, one of my go-tos! However, the portion for the dry version might be a little small compared to the soup one.

Really enjoy the soup, but recently this year I feel like there’s less wok hey taste than previously when I first started eating from here.

A Pleasant Surprise at Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway, Bukit Panjang
After being bombarded with negative reviews, I was curious to try Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway for myself. Twice, on separate occasions, I visited this eatery, and my experience was far from disappointing.
Their Signature Mee Hoon Kway, loaded with minced pork, pork slices, pork ball, and shrimp ball, exceeded expectations. The noodles were delightfully springy, while the white pork and meatballs were tender and expertly marinated. The flavorful soup, accompanied by an egg and vegetables, made for a satisfying meal. Considering the price, I found it remarkably reasonable.
However, there's room for improvement in presentation. Given the numerous celebrity endorsements, I expected a more polished visual appeal. Consistency in plating would elevate their dining experience.
Despite this, Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway won me over with its delicious food and value. I'd recommend giving it a try, despite the negative reviews. Sometimes, taste truly is subjective.

After purchasing, we will be given a beeper and have to wait quite a while. I waited about 15-20 mins on a Sunday 1+pm. As mentioned by other reviews, there’s really an invisible long queue.
My dish is cooked well. Soup is not bad, wasn’t very thirsty afterwards. Portion is lesser than preferred. Saw the chef adding only 2 stalks of veg to each bowl. Chili is not bad, on the sour side. Good enough for me to return during non peak timings.

The soup has a wok hey taste. I don’t know how they create that taste in a soup but it’s great. May be a bit heavy if you don’t like rich soup. I suspect they don’t give a full egg per bowl as shown in the pictures.

Soup is nice and staff is quick to serve.
Additional anchovies is pricy for the extra amount to pay.
Stephanie Tan
Amazing claypot taste to the broth that is unlike any other soups. The meat slices are very tender and went well with the firm mee hoon kuay. Mee hoon kuay is thick but not floury in taste, meatballs seem handmade. Very satisfying and comforting flavours.

One of the best ban mian soup out there you can find in the west. Shabushabu pork is definitely worth trying!
