Only the pumpkin rice, lotus soup and 3 egg spinach were good. The deep fried fish was served lukewarm, obviously pre fried and doused with mediocre bean sauce. Luckily the meat tasted fresh.
Service staff (auntie with curly hair) had a bossy attitude and rude tone. She waved her hand in my face when I informed her politely that she missed out on one item in my order sheet. The other young girl has a much better service standard.

Visited on Sunday dinner. Vegetable is good. The portion is small for the other 2 dishes. Wanted to order the soup but too full. Will come for the soup next visit.

At lunchtime, I visited Laohuotang with my family. The environment here was quiet and there were few people. The waiter Lihui and Allen had a good service attitude. The waiter's recommended dishes were also good, especially salted egg cod fish and Bak Kwa fried rice. Thank you for their service. We will visit Laohuotang again next time.

Not too busy restaurant, get busier during lunch and dinner time. Soup is their signature with 1 time refill, reasonably priced; taste was okay. I strongly recommend their pumpkin rice.

Ordered via Foodpanda and the food portion is something that really threw us off - we have to caveat that we are not expecting bang for buck nor mountain amount of food. But exercise your judgement if you find the food portion given is fair or not. For us, it is RIDICULOUSLY SMALL given the high price tag. Everything came in atrociously tiny portion fit for one - the takeaway container for the stir-fried French beans is only 1/6 filled when it arrived, all for a price of $14.80. We thought it was a joke until we realised it is only 3 tablespoonfuls worth, and the portion is so pathetic the number of French bean is almost countable from the portion. Also, we were given 8 PUNY pieces of pepper prawn which costed us $23.80 - I normally wouldn’t mind if the prawns are any bigger, like Dian Xiao Er’s, but it is DAYLIGHT ROBBERY for $3 per piece of prawn that is smaller than my pinky. Even the soup feels watered down, and the container used is smaller. Shrinkflation is very real and I can empathise with F&B businesses and their cost pressures, but this is OUTRIGHT UNETHICAL and we felt cheated having spent $60 on a supposedly celebratory dinner only to receive our food that couldn’t even fill 3 adults (2 dishes, 1 soup). I definitely will not support Lao Huo Tang in the future and recommend that you do not, too, if you’re reading this review.

2nd visit, and I would say that 75% of the food choices are not bad. I was pretty impressed on 1st visit that they've gone beyond soup over the years. 👍
I certainly feel they deserve more customer crowds nonetheless.

Ordered the creamy butter pork, but it was quite different from the picture on the menu. The dish had more fat than meat, and the meat itself had a dark color, which didn’t seem fresh. On the positive side, the soup I ordered was good. I hope the restaurant can improve the quality of their ingredients to match expectations.
